SOLD OUT

WE DO NOT SHIP BEES.

PICK UP IN PUEBLO APRIL 7TH (8-9AM)  PICK UP IN ALAMOSA APRIL 8TH (or by appt.)

We will only have  a handful of Colorado Nucs for sale this year.

Handmade by me from our bees, these nucs will have one of our legendary Grampas Survivor queens.  The nucs were made in the fall of 2017, in the San Luis Valley Colorado, overwintered and reassessed for queen viability.  Much like chickens, a queens best laying year is her second year of life.  We sold limited number of these "fall" nucs a few years ago, with great success and will most likely move towards making all nucs here in Colorado in the fall. The queens are Italian based from my own breed stock, open mated with native Colorado drones.

Five frame nucs include cardboard nuc box, three frames of brood in all stages, two honey/pollen and covered in bees. Please contact me at beesformeplease@gmail.com with any questions.

  2. 3 Nuc From Grampa's Gourmet- All Doing Great! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th Apr 2018

I really appreciate the good communication. It was easy to order and pick up my nucs. Delivery to my town was so nice and convenient.
I purchased two nucs last year and a third this year. The two from last year are thriving and doing great. The third is off to a great start. There was a big population, tons of brood, tons of eggs and a half frame loaded with honey. They've already begun to draw out new comb.
The temperament is pretty gentle. I had heard from another local beekeeper that these bees were mean. That hasn't been my experience, thankfully! I think good handling goes a long way.

  3. ABC Always Buy Colorado Nucs :) 5 Star Review

Healthy gentle over wintered Colorado bees. These are just what we were looking for and they are building up in numbers rapidly.
Feel very fortunate to have found Grandpas!

  4. Love the bees! 5 Star Review

So far so good! I was pleasantly surprised that our queen had been marked. Thanks for going the extra step! That made our first time installation a little easier.

  5. Best nucs since the Enola Gaye 5 Star Review

Posted by on 25th Apr 2017

Nucs doing great. I'm a beginner bee "keeper" but these nucs are much better than last years. More bees, more active, more larve, etc.

  6. Good laying patterns 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd May 2016

Two Nucs moved to 8 frame deeps 5/21, and 5/22.

Nuc#1 had 3.5 frames drawn comb, two frames capped brood one frame uncapped, one frame part crazy comb other side not drawn. Beekeeper error to not check frame spacing after move caused crazy comb. Good population, good queen, ready for bigger box.

Nun#2 had 5 frames drawn, 3,5 frames capped, one frame honey/pollen. Solid pattern throughout all frames, excellent queen. Very ready for bigger box.

Will add second deep of undrawn foundation to each box in 10 days.

Yes they did seem a bit more defensive than my older hives.

  7. two each Five frame Nucs 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Apr 2016

My first experience in obtaining an installing bees. The first nuc I installed was by the book. Everything matched the research I had done.
The second was somewhat of a surprise. It was teeming with bees. Every frame was loaded. All in all, a great experience. I'm a very satisfied customer.

  8. after one month 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st May 2015

After 1 month the bees have doubled in number and have out grown their single brood box. We added another box after finding queen cells. They are producing honey and brood extremely well. They are fairly calm bees even when the box is opened on a breezy day.

  9. 4 Frame Nuc 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th May 2015

The bees have an excellent temperament. The queen lays in a good pattern. In 17 days they have drawn nearly 4 frames of comb in a foundationless Lang. The only deficit was the nuc box was poorly done and had been patched with duct tape. While waiting for me to arrive home the bees had chewed their way out and were making orientation flights. I had to wait a day to instal. I did repair the box with little effort and scrap lumber so will be able to reuse, better than cheap cardboard therefore 5 stars. Very satisfied.

  10. New Nucs 4 Star Review

Posted by on 28th Apr 2015

I met Brent on April 18th and picked up two new nucs. So far they seem healthy.
